It was always because they wern't getting enough attention, something they starve for because they probably have low self-esteem. I'd just be walking, minding my own business and I'd be called a faggot rather loudly by one guy in a group of them. I'd like to imagine that after I walked away he would say something like "Huh huh, I totally called him a faggot. Did you guys hear that? I totally did. Did you hear?" Then they all like, listen to the Dave Matthews Band or some shit while talking about date rape. They see me in my leather jacket and "crazy hair" and think "He must get a lot of attention. I must one-up that. Quick! Yell something so people look at you!" But like I've said before, I don't do it for attention, I do it cause I like weird outdated punk music and it makes me feel good cause I like it.

It was worse for me cause I was practically the only person in my school like that. I listen to stuff like The Damned and The Stranglers whereas everyone else let themselves be feed the sugar-coated mindless garbage that was predetermind for them by big record producers and popular radio stations. People forgot what that stuff is and most people within my generation don't even know it existed so they liken me to some modern trend. I'd get compliments from older school staff members, though saying "Man, I remember when there were a lot of people like you back when I was in high school". It made me feel pretty alien, and I still feel that way, but what the hell are ya gonna do? I have what makes me happy and I'm gonna go with it.
