This is not very different from feminist or black sites debunking the hidden patriarchalism or racism in pop culture of yesteryear. Of course, most of the sites that do this only preach to the choir (remember GirlRobo's posts about the pink dolls?). However it just shows how once a form of discourse control becomes acceptable, it seeks to reaffirm itself by denouncing the past. Feminists denounce hidden sexism, blacks hidden racism, and teleiosupremacists denounce hidden paedophilia. Usually they are wrong, because if it was hidden it was probably non-existent by the standards of the time. If it had been open, their forebears would have denounced it when it was contemporary, as they do today and did back then with what they did consider discriminatory or offensive.
