A friend in prison with me, while not child oriented, was a rapist. He was sentenced to a gazillion years behind bars (the maximum which is due to run out soon) plus, (a big plus), he was sentenced indefinitely to a mental institution upon completion of his prison term. His lawyer successfully argued that it was unconstitutional to sentence anyone to a mental hospital; a committal must be by medical personnel, not the courts. Further more, one cannot be sentenced to an indefinite term anywhere. Life, or years, or some such, but not indefinite.

The point is the thoughts behind the judge. A highly educated man. A respected intellect. A stupid idiot.
