Re: Watching what you say

While GC is perfectly within her rights to create standards of speech for posters and chatters on her fora, we shouldn't take the antis into consideration in choosing our standards. The notion that our words would provide them with ammo denies the fact that any of our expressions will be taken out of context and twisted or reinterpreted to their benefit. They will create ammo through deceit regardless of what we say. I disagree that we shouldn't take the antis into consideration. Yes, they will take anything we say out of context and use it against us. But why should we give them ammo that we cannot defend against? At least when they twist good things we say out of context, we have a pretext for setting them straight and defending ourselves. But if we purposely say sleazy things, or make bad jokes that can easily be taken out of context (like the stupid thing that Heirophant said a while back to deliberately bait the antis), or make blatantly disrespectful comments about girls and their bodies, then we are just providing the antis with "proof" that we are every bit as bad as they say. I do agree that we should watch what we say in deference to the antis and all of our many enemies out there...I am not saying to curb our opinions, but rather to keep our comments about girls respectful and to avoid sleaze whenever possible. We are currently in no position to act like creeps...we need to control our conduct.
